Recently came across a book in the library describing Lauriston Estate. Sparked my interest in some very vague childhood memories.

I still recall our technical files containing an "Adastra" aerial photo of our antenna farm at Sydney Aeradio HF transmitter site at Llandilo NSW. I was posted there 1980-1985 and by the sparse appearance of the surrounding housing estates the photo was probably taken about 1972. It's a great shame so many of Adastra's records have been lost. I don't think much DCA history has survived either.

Worked with DCA/Airservices as an FSO in Sydney/Bankstown & Cooma 1972-1992. Learnt to fly at RAC of NSW in 1965. Moved to NZ 2010. I really enjoy reading about the good old days and checking out the fantastic photos. Keep up the good work. I'm still flying here in Tauranga with the aero club and enjoying the change of scenery in my retirement.

An interesting web site...i was a camera operator on vh-das from 1968 to 1969. I was part of the team of Charles Vincent, Colin Burton and various aircrew supplied by TAA.

Currently flying B747-400's here in the desert. Found the Airways Museum website and link to Adastra. Always enjoy reading about Australian aviation history especially being apart of it as an ex-Ansett employee for over ten years. All the best, Chris.

I just now stumbled across your webpage. I too worked for Adastra as a refugee (Ops Coordinator) from Civil Aerial Surveys (1974) along with Ellertion, Furze, Spencer, Beazby and Nicholls. My job with Adastra was as Sales Manager covering sales and promotion for aerial survey contracts, photographic plan reproduction and microfilm. I left after Control Surveys took over, joining TAA. Great memories. Hullo out there!

I assume VH-AGX was at that time flying targets for the army south of Bundeena and out to sea. I had a couple of trips up in the nose and that was exciting. Not allowed to stay while landing - damn! There were fishing boats blissfully sailing past and I would see the near misses. The first time we went down we had to wait an age for the guns to be loaded and then on one of the last flights they took of our aerial. Man, that nose was a great place to be - for a sixteen-year-old.
Howdy all.
