The aircraft is Short Sandringham VH-BRE Pacific Chieftain of Ansett Airways. It operated a nine day charter departing from Rose Bay (Sydney) on 29 October 1955 to Hobart - Bluff (Invercargill) - Wellington - Auckland - Lord Howe - Rose Bay. (Thanks to John Wilson for these details).
