Aviation Services and Photographics was owned by Jim King of Melbourne,
but as a newcomer to the industry he needed to establish a reputation. For
this purpose he engaged Allan Vial as a consultant to assess and train his
crew as well as doing some work for the Victorian Lands Department. Between
11OCT62 and 31NOV62, Allan Vial made 22 survey flights and a number of training
flights, flying for just over 100 hours. Surveys were also flown for the
Queensland Department of Lands. On average, mapping surveys were done at
15,000 feet with the highest being at 16,500 feet. Engineering surveys for
drainage and road works were done at 5,000 feet above the ground. (Source: Allan Vial) |
