A very significant photo in Adastra's history. The caption on the reverse of Tom Carpenter's print reads: "October 1945 - first Anson on civil register VH-AGG, our car a 1928 Figure Head Buick and trailer load of spares, tools etc ready to leave Mascot to start the Victorian contract." Note that the car and trailer bear the name "Adastra Aerial Surveys". Thus, the name probably appeared on a motor vehicle before it was applied to an aeroplane. The inscription under the Adastra emblem on the car door reads "Adastra Aerial Surveys Sydney". The same inscription appears on the trailer but minus the emblem. The company emblem also appears on the rudder of the Anson. Tom Carpenter is driving the car.Photo: Tom Carpenter Collection (CC-002)
